Sarang (Love) @ Lunch
As office workers on Orchard, we always try to keep a lookout for cheap/reasonable deals to break the monotony of being couped up with 50 other people.
For some unknown reason, the group of zany people I hang out with bond over Korean food. It was a weekly affair with Crystal Jade Korean Restaurant at Centrepoint until it closed down and broke our hearts. When we discovered that Sarang Korean Restaurant at Orchard Central is having a decent lunch promotion, we trooped there the very next day. Sarang is Korean for love and that has found our way into our hearts especially on rainy days.
After we informed the pseudo maître d' of the number of people, he/she would hit a brass gong before ushering us in with the usual Anhyeong-haseyo.
The lunch promotion consist mostly of stews, hotplates and soup such as Stewy Chicken, Super Star, Army Stew (my fave), Beany, Piggy Jumps, etc. starts off at SGD9.90 (without GST). There are about 10 dishes to choose from and each set consists of rice, 2 side dishes and your choice of hot or cold rice tea. The ginseng chicken set is a little more expensive at SGD12.90 but it comes with the extra dish of japchae.

Their kimchi items pack a certain punch so it takes a while to get used to it. If you melt upon touching curry, I would recommend you to go for the Stewy Chicken (tomato sauce base), hotplates or the bean-based broths.

Anyway, our lives are now back on track with our good, cheap Korean lunch fix.
