An Adelaide Wedding + Sorta Solo Trip 5d4n (Day 4,5) - Rundle Mall Shopping and Gleneg

Day 4

Today is the day where we hit the mall and get the health supplements that my parents had been pestering me about. Vitamins and other health supplements are notoriously expensive in South East Asian countries. So they had been texting me almost every day with an updated shopping list.

First place we went to was Rundle Mall. It's not a physical mall but a pedestrian street mall area where shops line the walkway. Jo brought me to this discounted pharmacy store of sorts to sort out my shopping list. The husband decided to let us girls wander about.

The pedestrian mall is home to many retailers, pop-up stores, cafes and seem to be the place to get your clothing fix in Adelaide. The place is a good for window shopping but I found prices were out of my budget. Boo. There is a huge Cotton On there if anyone is interested. Different pieces from the local stock here.

"Rundle Mall" on both sides of the street
I didn't manage to find Augusta, Oliver, Horatio or Truffles, the pig statue mascots of the area but stumbled upon this charming fountain instead.
This fountain was cast in the late 1800s.
We got tired from window shopping and popped into a cafe to people watch. I love how cappuccinos in Adelaide always come with a side of cocoa powder
The groom picked us up at the appointed time and we headed out of town to Gleneg. The town is a beach side suburb with high end development. Cafes and expensive restaurants lined the marina. Perhaps it was midday, and not time for the drinking to start.
The waterfront would be crowded during the nights according to my Aussie friend.
As we walked to the jetty and the main part of town, strong winds nearly blew us off our feet. It was spring but the winds reminded me the Melbourne winters I used to have. Nary a soul was around. I'm not sure was it due to the strong wind or the scorching sun. The sun was so bright that we all had shades on. It was blindingly bright.
Lonely beach volleyball poles

Fishing was allowed but with the pounding waves and strong wind, I'm not sure if a fishing pole would survive.

Heading to Jetty Road
We headed to another Bracegirdles for a chili chocolate drink. Dried chili flakes in dark chocolate. Glenelg was very sleepy town when I was there. Nothing shouted out to me. It makes a good stroll on the weekends if you want to people watch or catch the ocean winds. Perhaps, it was winter holding on to the beach.

Day 5

Time to head home. I called a cab and it was a 45 minutes right to the airport. Parts of the airport were under renovation so there was nothing to do after I passed immigration, except to wait to board. Seats were left wanting. Many travelers ended up sitting on the floor.

That sums up my last day in Adelaide. 'Til the next trip folks!
